Welcome to the Education Committee!

The purpose of the Education Committee is to support high-quality education in the care of neonates and infants with or at risk for acute and chronic kidney disease. Our goal is to provide accessible, evidence-based resources that inform clinical practice and support ongoing learning in neonatal nephrology. Additionally, career development of medical trainees through the Six2Crew and Ureteric Buds mentorship programs is at the core of our committee's mission.

Through our Resource Library, we make scientific literature and educational materials easily accessible to health care providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, students) and others involved in the care of these patients.

The Committee also organizes Educational Symposia and offers a Professional Development Series focused on important and emerging topics in neonatal kidney care. The goal of these efforts is to promote shared knowledge, collaboration, and continuous professional growth within the neonatal nephrology community.

Lastly, collaborations with the Family Advisory Board and the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Chapter allow for national and global educational outreach.

EDUCATION IN ACTION

EDUCATION COMMITTEE INITIATIVES

 Educational Symposia
Educational symposia provide NKC members with multidisciplinary learning opportunities focused on neonatal kidney health. These sessions bring together experts in Neonatology and Nephrology to discuss emerging research, clinical practices, and complex topics within the field.

Article of the Month
Our Article of the Month list highlights impactful publications relevant to Neonatal Nephrology. The selected articles are reviewed by NKC members and a summary is posted to our website.

Professional Development
The Education Committee holds professional development talks quarterly to provide career development resources for NKC members beneficial to both Neonatology and Nephrology. Covered in the webinars are topics such as publishing your work, funding, academic career paths, converting educational and clinical work into scholarly products, time management and mentoring, among others.

Trainee Career Development
Trainee support is a priority of the Education Committee. We work to support fellows, residents, and early-career clinicians interested in neonatal nephrology. Through our mentor programs, Ureteric Buds and Six2 Crew, we provide the opportunity for peer and faculty mentorship for students interested in the field.

Resource Library
Our resource library provides NKC physician and nurse practitioner members with access to curated educational materials including recorded webinars and clinical information.
